STEP 1: Slide the connector onto one of the wires
STEP 2: Clean the stripped wire ends with an abrasive
STEP 3: Intermix or twist the two stripped ends
STEP 4: Preheat the joint
STEP 5: Slide the connector over the joint
STEP 6: Melt the solder first, then the adhesive ends (expels any vapour before sealing)
TIP: To double insulate, add heat shrink over the top of the completed solderstick connection
A heat gun or a butane torch (just watch the concentrated heat when using the butane torch (or wave it around like a crazy person to melt the tubing, adhesive & solder)
No, don't have to in order get a good connection, but you can use it to see if you get additional solder flow through the joint for even better penetration. We have tried this and have found that preheating and flux can help the solder flow through the joint.
